Benefits, Compensation, and Payroll Manager

Job Summary

The Benefits, Compensation, and Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of employee benefits, compensation, and payroll functions within the organization. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of compensation structures, payroll administration, employee benefits, applicable regulations, and industry best practices. The successful candidate will develop and implement effective compensation and benefits strategies, ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Benefits Administration:
    • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive employee benefit programs including health insurance, retirement plans, disability insurance, life insurance, and flexible spending accounts.
    • Conduct regular benefits enrollment and open enrollment processes.
    • Maintain accurate employee benefit records and conduct audits.
    • Research and recommend new benefit programs to enhance employee satisfaction and retention.
    • Stay up-to-date on benefit trends and industry best practices.
  • Compensation Management:
    • Develop and implement competitive compensation strategies, including salary structures, bonus plans, and incentive programs.
    • Conduct salary surveys and market analysis to ensure compensation is aligned with industry standards.
    • Perform job evaluations and classifications.
    • Analyze compensation data to identify trends and make recommendations for adjustments.
  • Payroll Processing:
    • Oversee the timely and accurate processing of payroll for all employees.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
    • Manage payroll deductions, including taxes, benefits, and other deductions.
    • Process employee pay changes, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and deductions.
    • Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies.
  • Compliance:
    • Maintain in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
    • Ensure compliance with all payroll, benefits, and compensation regulations.
    • Conduct regular audits to identify and address compliance risks.
    • Implement effective internal controls to safeguard employee data and financial information.
  • Team Management:
    • Manage and develop a team of payroll and benefits specialists.
    • Assign tasks, provide training, and monitor performance.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in benefits, compensation, and payroll administration.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in payroll and HRIS systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS’s, and data reporting. CheckWriter’s experience a plus.
  • HRIS implementation experience preferred.
  • Ontario Canada payroll and benefits experience a plus.
